The Grange is presently
raising money to restore their historic building.
The
present project is to remove and replace the kitchen and bathrooms. An
estimate of the total cost is $85,000. The first phase of this project
is to raise $35,000 to remove the existing kitchen and bathrooms and
frame in a larger area.
Our members hope to finish
the interior themselves, with the assistance of community volunteers.

History
The
Sandy Grange was organized in 1909. The first Master (President) was
Elijah Coleman, a famous mountain man of the Sandy, Mt. Hood area.
The
Grange purchased a building in the center of Sandy and held meetings
there for many years until that building was condemned. The Grange then
bought the Kelso Grade School, which was built in 1905.
The
Grange is currently conducting extensive restoration and modernization
of the building. They have replaced the roof, painted the building, and
added a handicap ramp and parking space.
Benefits:
In addition to the usual Grange benefits that Grange membership offers,
The Sandy Grange has a memorial scholarship fund that awards a $500
scholarship each year to a Grange college student.
